“A tale that is as old as it is unknown. The seas of the Caribbean were once ruled by a band of beautiful buccaneers. Led by one fearless female, the pirates were known to wreak havoc on the island’s shores, stealing riches, leaving destruction and being feared by all.
It was in Bequia, as she watched her team of swashbucklers pillage and plunder, that the Captain noticed a handsome man hiding in the shadows. She beckoned to him, and as he made his way to her, he knew he had but one chance to save himself. In exchange for his village’s safety, he promised the pirates one feast, which he would prepare himself, using the finest ingredients and his own secret recipes.
Once the dinner was laid before her, the Captain made a final threat to the young chef. If she was not completely satisfied, she would force him to walk the plank and leave him on his own forever. With a wink, he accepted the challenge. As she enjoyed the first taste, the magic he had stirred into the food coursed through her—she found herself deeply in love with this mysterious chef. The meal ended with a kiss from him, and a new path for them all.
Now the chef travels with the Captain and her crew. Each night, they take a pause in their reckless revelry to enjoy a meal on the decks of the pirate ship. At Devil’s Table, as it is now known, they remember the magic that brought them together, and the love that keeps them there.”
Devils Table restaurant opened June 16 to our guests and of course the public! Marcus Abrahamsson and his culinary team will be crafting some of the best Euro-Caribbean style foods in a funky, upscale boutique restaurant located right inside of Creekside Villa.
About the Chef and Owner:
Marcus was born in Sweden and his family then decided to move to the small island of Bequia in St.Vincent and the Grenadines. Here, he grew up on the sandy beaches while his family ran 5 star accommodations and restaurants. Marcus’s mother is a well established chef and taught him all he knows. He began looking in their restaurants at the early age of 10 when he recognized his true passion for the culinary field. After travelling the world to work and study he met his wife and co owner Carolyn while she was vacationing on the beautiful white sands of Bequia. Carolyn’s passion for wine and hospitality along with Marcus’s stellar passion for food has created Canmore’s newest style of eating!
